DH-3263
Striated Pardalote - Near nest site
At Lajamanu an aboriginal settlement on the northern edge of the Tanami Desert, Northern Territory, Australia.
Pardalotus striatus uropygialis
This race was previously known as a full species named Black-headed Pardalote, i.e. lacking the striations on the head that gives this species its name. Found only in northern Australia from the Kimberleys to NW Queensland. Other races found right throughout Australia. Nests in holes in banks but forages in tree crowns of woodlands and eucalypt forests and trees along dry watercourses and into arid scrublands. Also wet coastal eucalypt forests and mangroves
