Lake Wakatipu - view towards the stunning mountains of Mount Aspiring Nation
Queenstown, Otago, South Island, New Zealand
Queenstown - the capitol of adrenaline - is situated at the shores of Lake Wakatipu. Queenstown and the area around Lake Wakatipu including the mountains of Mt. Aspiring National Park were used for the filming of many scenes for the Lord of the Rings Triology. Lothlorien Amon Hen Isengard and Ithlien Camp are some of the fictional locations. Many of the scenes were digitally altered though so the original places are not easy to recognize.
