Oxford is a city in the South East of England, located in the county of Oxfordshire. It is renowned for its world-famous university, which has been educating students since the 11th century. The city itself has a rich history and culture that dates back to Saxon times, and today it is home to some of Britain’s most iconic landmarks.

Oxford University is one of the oldest universities in the world and one of the most prestigious. It consists of 38 colleges spread across four main sites: Radcliffe Square, High Street, St Giles’ and Magdalen College. Each college has its own unique character and atmosphere; from grand courtyards to beautiful gardens, there are plenty of places to explore within each college grounds. The university also boasts an impressive library system with over 11 million books available for students to access – making it one of Europe’s largest academic libraries!

The city centre itself offers plenty for visitors to see and do; from museums such as Ashmolean Museum or Pitt Rivers Museum which showcase artworks from around the world, or historic buildings like Christ Church Cathedral or Bodleian Library which have been standing since medieval times. There are also plenty of shops selling everything from traditional souvenirs to designer clothes – perfect for those looking for something special!

Oxford also hosts a range of cultural events throughout the year such as music festivals at Christ Church Meadow or theatre performances at Oxford Playhouse; there really is something here for everyone! Additionally, if you’re looking for somewhere peaceful then why not take a stroll along River Cherwell or wander through Port Meadow?

Overall Oxford offers an incredible mix between modern amenities with historical charm - making it an ideal destination whether you're visiting on holiday or studying at university!
