Gibson's Albatross - on the water
Offshore from Kaikoura, South Island, New Zealand.
Diomedea epomophora
the size difference of these two birds is marked. The smaller bird on the left would be a female Gibson's Albatross and the bird on the right a large male Southern Royal Albatross. The differing bill sizes are obvious. Gibson's Albatross is sometimes treated only as a subspecies of Wandering Albatross.
